"I joined the Trails to Literacy in the spring of 2001, to help supervise the clients in the shop. I was approached by a staff member and asked if I would do it. I have found this to be a rewarding experience and enjoy giving back something to my community. I have helped clients and other volunteers put up bird houses, bird feeders and shelters on the trails."

"The most fulfilling of all has been the comradeship and active participation, as a group. The wonderful people of every type and skills level, whether volunteers or participants, made the days full of fun, as well as full of learning. We were all eager, at the end of each day's session, to meet again for the next. Beginning with the simple idea of learning to build a bird feeder, these months have proved instructive and rewarding to all who became involved. I think that we all benefited in unseen ways as well, by learning to better understand and to appreciate others"-
